Abstract

|
After a description of Alzheimer’s disease and its complications, we propose a management strategy designed to aid patients maintain physical health and improve the quality of life of both patient and family. In contrast to out-patient clinics and homes for elderly persons, the authors describe their experience of an acute unit designed to admit patients at any stage of the disease and with any of its common complications. This unit for Alzheimer patients forms part of a case-control study funded by the European Community designed to improve the quality of life of patients and family members.
